The skill point bar displays two quantities, one of which acts as the maximum for the other.

Energy is a character's ability to use actions.

  • Most actions have some Energy cost. Other types of cost are rarer.
  • Some attacks by the opponent can damage Energy.
  • Energy can be reduced down to 0 by using an ability that costs the same amount as the amount of energy remaining.
  • The maximum Energy is the current Stamina.
  • Energy regenerates quickly at the start of each turn in battle (with more regeneration based on current Stamina and actions taken during the previous turn), and is fully replenished at the end of a battle, regardless of its outcome.
  • Energy costs are large relative to maximum energy, due to the rapidity of the recovery from them.

Stamina is a character's ability to recover energy.

  • Stamina usage is a rare cost for powerful actions.
  • Only rare and powerful attacks by the opponent can damage Stamina.
  • Stamina cannot be reduced beyond a certain point, to prevent battles from becoming unplayable.
  • The maximum Stamina is a stat the character has.
  • Stamina does not regenerate and cannot be recovered except by rare and powerful items and at reformers.
  • Stamina costs tend to be low relative to maximum Stamina, as they are permanent and have knock-on effects.
